Small town girl is wooed by the bright city lights.

It is on a river showboat that Helen Heise becomes Helena, and is bitten by the “show biz bug.”

Since Brett—her intended—is off and away to fight in the war, Helena is free to wander. A showboat, Broadway, the flickers. Then Hollywood.
